Wacko People

Death by partners, vendors, and customers, somebody get my gun! OK that is a little over the top but damn don't you want to strangle the bastards? You haven't lived until experiencing unbearable business partners, unresponsive vendors, and customers from hell. Grab a drink, click and enjoy - ciao

Bodacious Mary, I agree that type 1's are the preferred business partner and perhaps beyond. The challenge for most of us is vacillating between 1 and 3. If our core isn't solid or we are afraid to stake out our personal territory, we will act without direction and boundaries. Entrepreneurship is about who we are and being a Type 1 should be top priority. This whole deal is an inside out proposition - getting my act together so I can attrack the same.

Nice blog.

I can emphasise with much of this. I would add that in an entrepreneurial setting I believe tenacity (as opposed to intelligence, experience, contacts etc) is an important characteristic in a partner. There will always be good times and bad ones, and surviving the bad ones is key. A Type 1 with no staying power is of little use.

Good luck!

Tom, great point that emphasizes the complex nature of entrepreneurship. I have seen and participated in research to distill the salient characteristics; the models might have been accurate but very complex. In one study of the personal characteristics of "successful" entrepreneurs, when sorted against the whole population it found we (literary license) are about one percent of the population. Truly the called. I'll do a blog here in the next couple of days and share some of this stuff.
